Look what he did with my album! Long distance collaboration - this is what makes the interwebs wonderful.
So I’ve been offered a gig in NYC in December 2014. Omg. I’ve always wanted to go there in the winter time…
In a Mellow Tone by Duke Ellington. Performed here by the incomparable Lambert, Hendricks and Ross.
Just a little gratuitous vocal beauty to celebrate World Voice Day 2013
Reblogged from alexleefitz:
I’m definitely taking my melodica with me when I fly to Melbourne in two days time to play in this festival.
But I still feel a little unsure about the whole thing. Do I really think they’ll like me playing Yann Tiersen on it?? And Nino Rota??? Lordy, I hope so!
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Il buono, il cattivo, il brutto) by Ennio Morricone, performed on the ocarina. Yeah!
I am thinking that the ocarina is the missing link in my recording. I’d planned to record this on toy piano and melodica, but needed a third texture. Enter the ocarina! (“Enter the ocarina” - that sounds like the name of an imaginary Finnish folk metal band. Hm.)
Morning Passages from Philip Glass’s soundtrack to the film The Hours.
So poignant! And I so admire the characters in this masterful screenplay. I wonder if my producers would be happy for me to record yet more Glass? This fits well into my favourite-strong-female-characters-in-cinema idea. Hm.
I’m really getting into this whole toy piano thang… Here’s a whole festival dedicated to it! Thank you interwebs for connecting me with other toy piano weirdos. It’s so fab :D
