Tetris Rain

Prelude in C Major BWV 846 by J S Bach. Performed in a singularly unique fashion by Glenn Gould.  I’m unsure of how I feel about this interpretation. Need to give it more time to sink in.

At any rate, yesterday I had a long conversation with the engineer who’ll be working on my album (upon which I am going to record this piece).  We spoke about performance practise and interpretation and approach, piano vs/ harpsichord, composer’s “intention” vs. personal interpretation, the character of Salomo who performs this piece in the film Bagdad Cafe (which is why I chose to record it in the first place) and his feelings about the piece, his interpretation which is completely over the top with lots of rubato and so much sustain pedal I feel like I’m swimming in the sound…

With so many perspectives to consider, it’s a wonder I’m not going crazy. Argh.  Oh whatever, I’m just going to record it the way I like it. So there.
